The last Clifton Art club outdoor painting session for the season was at Woodspring Priory, North Somerset. Sat under the shelter of an apple tree for this small oil. The orchard there is full of old fruit trees including apples, pears, quince and even a medlar. You can stay in the priory which belongs to the Landmark Trust.
The weather has gone downhill, so it is back to painting from the car. Last week I parked to do this painting of the Hotwells end of the A4 Portway. Cumberland Basin roads and overpasses contrast with the old Hotwells 18th century buildings and the line of the distant Clifton Suspension Bridge is mirrored by the Cumberland basin pedestrian overpass.
