Experiencing the natural world through art
First oil of 2019
Ruins, Hail Wood, Portbury. Carolyn Lamb. 2019. Oil 8"x8". 12th Feb is probably the earliest day of sitting outside doing an oil painting I've done, although I have been out sketching snowdrops and plants. My board was already preprimed with a layer of Winsor and Newton Naples yellow which gave me a head start. Note the historic pigment Naples yellow is yellow but poisonous (Lead antimonate), so this modern substitute is more like an opaque light golden ochre.
