![]() Red Chestnut blossom. C Lamb. 11 May 2020. Micron Brush pens on Poplar Bark. This weeks challenge was to paint with a medium or support you had never used before. While walking by the river I found bits of bark from a felled poplar tree. The inside is reasonably smooth so I thought it a good support for an ink drawing. Wind had also blown the blossom off the chestnut tree and this acted as my model. Poplar planks were the support used by Italian Early Renaissance painters but bark would have been used for kindling. ![]() After Odilon Redon. C Lamb. 6 May 2020. Pastel. A4. This weeks challenge was to copy an image by an artist you like, either exactly or do your own version. I have always admired the colourful flower vase pastels that Redon did in his later years so this is my version. There is often a shadowy woman in the background but he would not have included a table or book. |
