Elsick House Garden viewed from my bedroom, sketched with watercolour pencils. Time for the Girls Weekend. This year we returned to Elsick House, Cammachmore, near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. I chose a bedroom with view overlooking the garden but after an initial sketch found I was later dazzled as the sun shone in directly. So I did my main painting from the north facing bedroom opposite which overlooked the drive and artificial pond with Japanese bridge.
Last year I was hampered by running out of paint as my acrylics had dried up in the tubes and only had enough for a 5 x 7" painting. This time I took Artisan oils to avoid that problem, but in order to complete the work in the time I only had a slightly larger board ( 6 1/2" x8 1/2")
