Sheltering under a tree to start my watercolour sketch at Yeo Valley Organic Garden, July 11th 2015. This is my first use of paper cut from a huge roll of Fabriano Watercolour paper I bought to enable myself to try larger formats.
The roll is 1.5m x 10m but my first effort is a modest 47x 60 cm.
Watercolour artist Paul Weaver loaned me one of his Freestyle 'one brush does all' brushes (available from Rosemary & Co) for the day.
As I didn't finish I came back the next week to do more . This lovely garden is open two days a week for summer and also has a great cafe and loads of painting subjects so I decided to buy a season ticket.
End of first days oil painting of Blagdon Lake from the Holt Farm rear lawn Lots of butterflies, azure damselflies and squeeks and divings in the grass, presumably from shrews. Canada geese in the field and the afternoon procession of cows passing back and forth to the milking parlour. (This is the home of Yeo Valley Yogurt)
Baby guinea pigs who don't stay still, at Holt Farm 31st July. Watercolour pencil
