It has been a busy week looking for Cherry Blossom. After a miserable winter, warmth was forecast so at last time for painting outdoors. Started with the Suspension Bridge in oil on Monday. Trees are still leafing up so no blossom here. Found a sheltered spot so braved the cold for 4hrs.
On Tuesday I found this Cherry tree on Sea Mills Lane. Used oil pastel for the white blossom and watercolour and inktense blocks, all on 12 x 16" Arches cold pressed paper. A heatwave had been predicted but still only 12.C so standing in the street again dressed in coat, hat and gloves .
Wednesday was hot at last but I was painting indoors! Camellias again in watercolour in my JPP sketchbook (hot press paper 5 3/4" x 8 1/2")
Back on Thursday with my oils for the same view. Fortunately with shelter from a parasol as it was 24.c ! You could see the leaves growing by the hour.
On the way on Wednesay I had spotted this Cherry on Ambra Vale East so after the camelias I went on outdoors to bake in the sun for 2hrs to do this watercolour
Holt Farm Garden opened this week for the season. I knew there would be cherrys so Friday was a visit there to paint this oil. Still warm and sunny but next week back to 12.c.
